The Birthday Song

Lucy singing happy birthday to Auntie Laura….

Lucy’s inchworm

Lucy and I had been wondering what was eating some of her plants…and yesterday we discovered an inchworm. We had a lot of fun getting it a leaf, watching it eat, and inch. We left it on the table overnight, and in the morning it had eaten a small hole in the leaf.

Afterwards we looked up some cool videos of caterpillars turning into butterflies…and the inchworm song.

The Internet in 1969, 1981

Here are a couple of YouTube videos I found interesting. The first one has a young Wink Martindale fretting over his wife’s spending habits (checkout his expression when he sees the latest bill.) Also, check out Wink’s monitor collection!

The second video is from the bay area’s own KRON-TV. I love the caption they give to one of the interviewees, “owns a home computer”. Also, it’s cool how they mention that  ”it only takes two hours to download a newspaper” at about $5 an hour.

Yep, a $10 newspaper w/ no graphics that only ties up my phone line fora couple of  hours? Where do I sign up? BTW, talk about memories…who can forget that pleasant “EEEEWWAAAHHHEEEE” modem connection sound? Yep, you’ll get to experience it again in this video. Hmmm, all this nostalgia has me jonesing for a Marathon bar.

Watching Maru

Lucy really likes a series of YouTube videos about a cat in Japan named Maru. Above is one of her fave Maru videos, “Big Box and Maru” a short we’ve probably watched a dozen times.

Here is a half-minute edited video of Lucy watching Maru. At the end of the video you can hear Lucy say one of her favorites words: “Again!”

Cat on a Roomba

Cat on  a Roomba. I don’t think Wubert would do this for all the tuna in the world. He’s afraid of most gadgets that move around and make noise.
