Putting on a Show

Last weekend L decided to put on a show for grandma. The weather was warm, the sun was low in the sky, and the backyard seemed perfect.

L set up the chairs and invited the guests out to the stage area. Once everyone was seated the show could begin.

She sang and danced, with a few of her favorite invisible friends to help her out.

She ended the show with her usual bows and “Thank you, thank you, everyone.”

Happy Birthday, Gma Vita!

LUCY: “WAAAAUGH! Wubie bit me!”
MOM: “Let me see that. Oh, I think he broke the skin!”
…(continues to inspect the ‘wound’)…“Unless that’s just dirt.”
LUCY: “I think that’s just dirt.”

Happy Birthday Song for Gma Vita from Mike C on Vimeo.

We had a get-together at Gma Vita’s place on Saturday to celebrate her birthday. Jill snapped a few pics, which you can view in the slideshow below. She also shot a video of us all singing “Happy Birthday” (see above).

It was great seeing (almost) everybody. The newlyweds, Michael and Michelle made it, especially nice since they’ll be moving to South Carolina next month. Cindy, Patty, Mario, and their families were also able to make the trek over.

Though the covered deck in the backyard is now but a memory and Gma Vita’s sunroom still a work in progress, we managed to make do with the shade provided by the old walnut tree.

Patty and Michael had just gotten back from a visit with Sam and family in Oregon. We were a bit jealous that they got to see the newest addition to the family!

Hopefully, we’ll all be able to get together again soon (including those who were missed this time around).

Grass Valley Visit

Grass Valley Visit from Mike C on Vimeo.

We spent last weekend with Tom and Karen in Grass Valley. This is the (25 minute!) video. Some highlights:

  • Lucy playing in the “ladybug pool”
  • Lucy, Tom, and Karen putting on a talent show
  • Lucy saying “Hi” to her Auntie Janie
  • Lucy finding frogs while exploring a creek

Music:

Lucy Singing

Lucy Singing from Mike C on Vimeo.

Yep, that’s Lucy singing her own song in the back seat of the car! Nope, I was not driving at the time…Auntie Laura was. (I added the music afterwards…she was singing and dancing to her own tune.)

This was filmed during a visit to Auntie Laura in San Francisco, we were coming back from the pottery studio where Lucy made hand and foot prints a month or so ago (see video here), this time we glazed and painted them.

Music is “Raindrops Are Falling on My Head,” by Burt Bacharach and B.J. Thomas.
