Autumn at Filoli Festival

This is a video from an Autumn at Filoli Festival we went to last month with Gpa Tom and Auntie Laura. From the Filoli site:

Join us Saturday, October 3 for our annual family-friendly Autumn at Filoli Festival. During this special seasonal event—a favorite of many—discover and savor one-of-a-kind pears, apples and grapes from Filoli’s heirloom orchards.

A variety of activities is planned with children and families in mind. This year we’ve expanded “Family Fun Land,” an area where supervised children’s outdoor games and activities will take place. Young guests also will have the chance to make Halloween crafts and have their faces painted.

Visiting Filoli with Gma Vita

Visiting Filoli with Gma Vita from Mike C on Vimeo.

Yesterday we trekked over to Filoli with Gma Vita. It was nice to finally see the place. Though Jill and the kid are frequent visitors, I was a Filoli newbie. The place is pretty impressive (you know, for a bein’ a bunch of flowers).

I especially liked the area near the pond where there were all sorts of flying critters. While there I thought, “this must be heaven for bees—or at the very least a totally awesome Costco.”

In addition to our pond visit, Lucy played tour guide and pointed out some of her favorite things (“tadpoles!”, “fountains!”, “the cafe where you will buy me a cheese stick!”) and I shot the above HD video.

Yep, it was about as relaxing a Saturday as one could imagine, unless you were Wubert who I’m quite certain was treasuring (i.e., sleeping through) his alone time back at home!

Camera Used: Creative Vado HD.

Toddling through a Maze

Here’s a video Jill took of the kid toddling around Filoli. Yeah, I know, it’s not really a maze. However, whenever I see something that’s even slightly reminiscent of a maze, I immediately think of the maze from the movie version of The Shining.

Filoli in summer

Lucy and I have been to Filoli several times recently, once when Uncle P.D. (above) visited from the far east (coast), and just last week with Grandmommy and Auntie Laura (also above, posing with madame). We like to think of it as Lucy’s back yard.

There are loads and loads of pics of our adventures here and I’ve included but a smattering of the ‘gorgeousness and gorgeosity’ that is Filoli below. Check ‘em out!

Tiptoe through the tulips

It was another fine day at Filoli, so Lucy, G’Mommy and I went for a visit. The tulips are now in bloom, and Lucy got a chance to have a look around at ground level. We got a lot of video of this, so maybe Mike will Vimeo some of it at a later date….

Here she is under the watchful eye of GMommy, romping through the rose gardens.

More pics here.

A Day Out

It was a warm and sunny day yesterday, so GMommy, Kitty, Lucy and I met at Filoli for a day out. As you can see the daffodils are in bloom! More pics here…

p.s. we saw a bunch (herd?) of deer and also a flock of wild turkeys (they looked as big as ostriches!) in the meadow by the gate as we were leaving.

Lucy and Grandmommy go to Filoli

Last week Filoli opened, so Lucy, Grandmommy and I made a date and went to visit. Filoli is a big house with gardens up in the hills near Woodside, and they are open to the public.

It was nice to be there without a load of people around, unlike when we usually go (when they are having an event.) We had lunch in the cafe, walked through the house, and strolled around the huge gardens. We stopped by the pool to sneak in a smackum, and then went back to the cafe for good measure and a cup o’ tea.

It was a lovely day! We hope to go back again with G’Mommy very soon, esp. once the flowers are in bloom. For more pics of our day out, click here.
