Bouncy House

June 12th, 2010 jill 1 comment

We went to a super cool birthday party recently, and they had a bouncy house. What fun!

Madame also enjoyed playing with the birthday girl’s toys….

But kept going back to the bouncy house….she even convinced her daddy to bounce!

They were crafts…a pinata…loads of balloons…cupcakes…phew!

It was a great party, and we stayed til the very end. Just as we were about to leave, she got in one last bounce!

Valentine’s Day

We took a few pics on Valentine’s Day. Here are a few of ‘em…

Valentine's Day

Here’s a pic of Lucy and I with some cool cards she made with her mom. It looks like some bed-head made it into this pic!

Here’s a pic of us playing Lucy’s current favorite game. Wubie always pops up whenever we bust out the board games. Also, a close-up of a Valentine’s Day card.

Feeling inspired, Lucy ran up to her easel and drew “Mommy Holding a Valentine.” She was very proud of it. Her style is changing so much as she grows up, getting much more representational.

Above you can also see how Wubert got “volunteered” for our newspaper pirate hat show.

More drawing, along with a visit with Gma Vita (where we found some time to watch a bit of Pawn Stars.) If you look close, you can see that Gma is holding her own card.

More hat pics.

Valentines

Happy Belated Valentine’s Day all!

Lucy and I made valentines this year. This is a tradition handed down from my dad (G’pa Tom), who always crafted handmade valentines for us from construction paper or whatever materals he had handy (I remember an intricate lace-edged one made with a holepunch.)

Lucy enjoys crafting things, and is getting much more precise with her crayons. She designed these cards (i.e., told me where to put the hearts, and crayoned on them), all except the first one, which is the valentine we made for her.

She is definitely understanding a lot more about birthdays and holidays at age 2! She frequently grabs ‘Father Christmas‘ for reading material, even now that it is February, and recognizes him in other venues (when he is a polar bear in Richard Scarry, or has a different outfit in Babar.)

In other news, she had a dr. appt. today, and was weighed and measured standing up for the very first time (so grown up!). She is also thankfully done for shots until kindergarten. We are both very happy about that.

She also surprised her daddy by counting to ten last night, which we had no idea she could do. And she can sing abc…’a e u b e u b, 8 a u b e b e….’ Lots of new words too…’walk, car, shock (=sock), shark, pink, blue, apple, Aunty, Omie, Izzy, nope, yep, park, out, in, up, down, oh no!’ and the evocative ‘meow pyuew.’ And whenever you ask who did something, she blames ‘meow.’ Smart kid.
