This weekend we hosted a birthday party for Auntie and Grandpa…our annual August birthday bash.
It was a lovely day so we all decided to have a picnic in the park, then come back home for cupcakes. It was so relaxing in the park, I forgot to take any pictures, so we’ll have to start with the cupcakes Lucy and I made…
the gang’s all here…
about to sing the birthday song…
partygoers and birthday celebrants. Happy Birthday Grandpa and Auntie!
LUCY: “WAAAAUGH! Wubie bit me!”
MOM: “Let me see that. Oh, I think he broke the skin!”…(continues to inspect the ‘wound’)…“Unless that’s just dirt.”
LUCY: “I think that’s just dirt.”

We had a get-together at Gma Vita’s place on Saturday to celebrate her birthday. Jill snapped a few pics, which you can view in the slideshow below. She also shot a video of us all singing “Happy Birthday” (see above).
It was great seeing (almost) everybody. The newlyweds, Michael and Michelle made it, especially nice since they’ll be moving to South Carolina next month. Cindy, Patty, Mario, and their families were also able to make the trek over.
Though the covered deck in the backyard is now but a memory and Gma Vita’s sunroom still a work in progress, we managed to make do with the shade provided by the old walnut tree.
Patty and Michael had just gotten back from a visit with Sam and family in Oregon. We were a bit jealous that they got to see the newest addition to the family!
Hopefully, we’ll all be able to get together again soon (including those who were missed this time around).
Last month we brought Lucy to a really fun birthday party. There were lots of kids, a bouncy house, balloons, toys, a piñata, and cupcakes. Needless to say, the whole experience got a hearty thumbs up from the kid. This is a video from the party.
Well that was fast. April is now in the books and 2010 is officially one third over with! Below is a collage made exclusively with pictures taken from April.

Celebrating Jill’s birthday in SF (too bad John couldn’t make it!)
Last weekend we celebrated Lucy’s third birthday. Can ya believe the kid is three already? Check out the cool “cake village” her mom made for her in the above pic.
The kid had a great time. Some of her favorite people (and Wubert), lots of food and presents, and lots of fun. What better way to spend a birthday for our growing girl? (Did I tell ya she’s three now?!)
She was pretty tuckered by the end of her big day. However, she still made sure to read a bedtime story to some of her “friends” before heading off to bed for the first time as a 3 year old.
We visited family in Oregon recently, and had a wonderful time.
Once we all converged there were aunties, uncle, cousins and grandma, and Lucy loved having a full house to entertain…she regaled them with songs over and over. I think she already misses the attention!
Here are some pics from our trip…thanks so much for having us!
p.s. this may end up being part one of a two-parter, stay tuned.

One downside to the lush greenery…it’s a rich habitat for spiders. Eww.
