2003 Get-Together with No Sound

“Wanna see my butterfly playing an xylophone?”
— the kid introduces her latest drawing

Back in 2003 I brought a camcorder to a family get-together and shot some video. I later discovered I’d shot the whole thing with the mic input on zero. That meant no sound at all. Disappointed, I tossed the tape in a box and forgot about it.

While searching around in a closet today I found that old tape. It’s funny how time changes things. When I first shot the video I considered it worthless. Now, eight years later, I feel as if I’ve unearthed a little forgotten treasure. It was a very nice surprise indeed.

Music: “Like Someone in Love” from The Swinging Guitar of Tal Farlow by Tal Farlow.

Putting on a Show

Last weekend L decided to put on a show for grandma. The weather was warm, the sun was low in the sky, and the backyard seemed perfect.

L set up the chairs and invited the guests out to the stage area. Once everyone was seated the show could begin.

She sang and danced, with a few of her favorite invisible friends to help her out.

She ended the show with her usual bows and “Thank you, thank you, everyone.”

Easter Egg Hunt (2009)

Easter Egg Hunt (2009) from Mike C on Vimeo.

Easter, again?! Wow, it’s a cliche, but time really does aviate at a high speed. We all trekked over to Gma Vita’s for Easter last Sunday. It was great seeing the family (though the absence of lumpia made everything feel a bit off this year).

Anyway, here’s a bit of video of the egg hunt. Also, for those interested, here’s a link to last year’s Easter post and video.

Camera Used: Canon Powershot SD750. Soundtrack:

Neighbor cat

Today Lucy visited Gma Vita’s house, and got to meet her Uncle Jim (see pic) for the first time. She also got a good look around Gma’s yard before it started raining, and saw….the neighbor cat!

She was very excited to see kitty and kept pointing. That’s her new thing, pointing, oh, and walking. Yep, she walks perfectly now! That was quick!

Busy week!

Lucy had a whirlwind of activity and travel this week! She got to visit both Grandma Vita and Grandmommy (Susan), go to the mall, and go to the city and Auntie Laura’s house. (She spent all day Sunday catching up on sleep and smackums.)

Gma Karen and Gpa Tom are still a bit out of our driving range at the moment, otherwise it might have been a trifecta of grandmas! Here are some pics from her visits.

Lucy in Gma Vita’s garden:

At Grandma Vita’s, Lucy always checks for squirrels and birds, and this time got to try out her standing and then sitting on the grass. She loves the backyard, so much to see! We can tell she will be running around it very soon.

Lucy with Gmommy:

At Grandmommy’s, Lucy got to see the three cats. She is very very interested in them, and seems a bit perplexed that there are 3 — is it an optical illusion? Aja was the most accomodating, letting Lucy get close enough to pet her.

Three cats! (Boris, Tasha and Aja)

Lucy and Auntie Laura in the garden:

Lucy also made a big trip to San Francisco to go shopping with G’mommy on Friday, and got to meet Auntie Laura’s 2 cats (and reacquainted with Luna, the doggie). That was quite a day for little Lucy!
