Lucy went to the zoo for the first time with Auntie and me last week. Highlights included watching the penguins zoom round their pond (occasionally leaping out of the water mid-zoom), talking to a noisy peacock, brushing a goat and watching a sleepy koala snooze. Lucy’s favorite had to be the carousel…she went round three times!

Here’s a video of our time in SF yesterday with Auntie Laura, Gpa Tom, Gma Karen, and a few four-legged friends. I made some of the video black and white after watching a bit of some Oasis documentary tour film this morning that reminded me how striking high contrast B&W can look.
Mix in a little slow-mo in the right spots and even a two year old can look pretty cool!

Today we went to visit the place we got married, the Byodo In temple, with Miss Lucy. Wanted to show her where the folks got hitched. It was a lovely day, not at all rainy like our wedding!
We fed fish, chased a kitty cat, and bought postcards at the shop. When I was chatting with the lady behind the counter, she realized she remembered our wedding…she had been there…and it stuck in her memory all these years! She even asked to take a picture of us, and met Miss Lucy. It was quite a nice moment for us.
Here is the girly-girl chasing the wily kitty cat. She sure misses Wubie!

Here are a few pics Auntie Laura snapped of Lucy and Izzy B, one of Laura’s cats…
I like how the accuser has frosting on her chin in this scene.
As you can see, Lucy likes getting up close and personal w/ her fuzzy friends. Luckily, said friends are usually pretty patient with her.
(though Izzy looks like she’s about to ptoink the kid in this last pic!)

We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium last Saturday w/ friends and family. Lucy was very excited. She saw snakes, sharks, otters (which look like slimmed down, wet Wuberts), penguins (her current obsession), and a fish that I bet was way into D&D back in school.
Wouldn’t ya know it, w/ all the cool (and dorky) animals swimming and splashing around that place, the kid’s favorite animals of the day were the pigeons? (My fave was the goofy guy.)
