A Birthday Party

A Birthday Party from Mike C on Vimeo.

Gpa Tom came to visit yesterday. We then all went to a birthday party for some friends in Morgan Hill. It was their son’s very first birthday, a very notable occasion.

Lucy was very excited, especially when she saw the park, grass, balloons, and all the people. She even got a lady bug (her favorite kind!) painted on her arm. The bug looked great (until Lucy rubbed her eye, smearing her ladybug and making herself look like an extra from A Clockwork Orange in the same motion).

Pizza Party and Mille Bornes!

    2009.03_1765

Above are pics from a get-together we had with some friends in March (has it really been that long?) The theme was pizza, and our kind hosts Craig and Susan really stepped it up, cranking out at least a half-dozen doughy, cheesy creations! Needless to say, we were all pretty psyched.

Of course, you can’t really call it a party unless someone crosses the line and busts out the Mille Bornes game. Yep, we’re talkin’ radical, man—’cuz that’s how we roll.

    Creve!

Summer BBQ with friends

A few weeks ago we got together with friends on a warm afternoon for a barbecue.

Lucy loved eating outdoors, playing with the other kids, and generally romping around. We even found a caterpillar…

Lucy was so enthralled by dining al fresco, she wanted to have dessert outside too…even after it got a bit chilly and everyone else had gone inside.

A good time was had by all!

Tea Time

We three ladies (Lucy, Kitty and I) went to tea, and a few dollies came along too…the whole kit and caboodle of pics here

It was Lucy’s first trip to a tea parlour, though she has had tea actually on several occasions (lukewarm and watered down of course).

She was very interested in exploring the salon and the lovely items displayed throughout (especially the dolls)…

so it took some persuading and the promise of ice cream to get her back in her chair…

Afterwards, we wandered around, looking in the shops, and found one displaying some rather familiar friends…

Special thanks to Kitty for meeting us for tea, and also for all the lovely books and presents she had for Miss Lucy. We must do this again soon!

Monterey Bay Aquarium

We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium last Saturday w/ friends and family. Lucy was very excited. She saw snakes, sharks, otters (which look like slimmed down, wet Wuberts), penguins (her current obsession), and a fish that I bet was way into D&D back in school.

Wouldn’t ya know it, w/ all the cool (and dorky) animals swimming and splashing around that place, the kid’s favorite animals of the day were the pigeons? (My fave was the goofy guy.)

More pics available here. Pics from Auntie Laura are here.

Scary Easter Rabbit

Today Lucy got to meet Isidora, who was visiting from windy Paris.

We had lunch at a cafe in the shopping center right next to a big Easter egg display. Lucy was fascinated by the giant eggs and the tall white rabbit walking around in the egg forest, that is, until he (it?) noticed her and came over to say hello. Seeing that big white rabbit up close and personal was too much for Lucy, and she started crying. Even when the rabbit offered her a bendy toy rabbit, she would not have any of it.

So we made a quick getaway, diverting her attention to some delicious looking pastries nearby (see pic). I think she will stick to the chocolate Easter kitty (Wubert) for now.

We hope to see Isidora again soon, maybe next time chez elle!

A Day Out

It was a warm and sunny day yesterday, so GMommy, Kitty, Lucy and I met at Filoli for a day out. As you can see the daffodils are in bloom! More pics here…

p.s. we saw a bunch (herd?) of deer and also a flock of wild turkeys (they looked as big as ostriches!) in the meadow by the gate as we were leaving.

A Welcome Visit

Craig, Susan and the kids paid us a surprise visit with cool gifts in tow. Lucy actually got a chance to share her books, blocks, and assorted swag with other kids not named Wubert! More pics are available in our January, 2008 set on Flickr.
