I Passed!

“He’s smoking!

At my Krav Maga class today I was pulled aside, given a certificate, and informed that I’d passed my yellow belt test. I was stoked! I felt like hugging people, but kept a semblance of decorum and went with a few tried and true bro hugs instead.

Afterwards, I was allowed to participate with the higher belts in class and felt like a total dufus. They were knocking out striking techniques and punching combinations that I could barely fathom (and I don’t mean the cool kind of fathom either.) This next level is going to be tough, but lots of fun too.

After class, I posted my good news on Facebook and by the time I’d gotten home from work Lucy (with help from her mom) had made me a congratulations message along with a belt made out of yellow construction paper.

Lucy even placed the belt around my waist. How cool is that? (At least she tried putting the belt around me—the waist size needed for her belt was last seen many years and pizzas ago.)

What else can I say? It was a good day.
