Jill’s Family Photo Album
Mommy: “Did you see that? Bundle pushed her water bottle off the table!”
Daddy: (from the kitchen, joking) “Bundle did that? I don’t believe it”
Lucy: “No, but I did!”

Jill has some really great family pictures, so I decided to make a video collage to show some of them off. It’s great that her family has been able to hold on to all of these pics—and that someone actually went through the painstaking process of getting them all scanned.
This actually prompts me to do something about all my family’s miscellaneous photos, most of which are sequestered away in a variety of photo albums in different locations.
Maybe it’s time I tackle a big family photo/letter/etc. consolidation project. Let’s set some guidelines:
- collect and scan all our old photos
- collect and save any notes, letters, memories
- find a way to provide some kind of context to the above
- find a way to make them all accessible by the whole family
- find a way to allow the family to add their own notes and memories
- find a system that allows for tagging, searching, indexing
Hmm, sounds like fun, but it also looks like I have some research to do!
Music Used:
- “Night and Day” from The Classic Early Recordings, Vol 2 and “Oh, Lady Be Good” from The Classic Early Recordings, Vol 1 by Django Reinhardt
- “Ain’t Misbehavin’” from Greatest Hits by Louis Armstrong

Cool! Those are all from our Dad’s side of the family, I have some more which I’ve just had scanned from our Mom’s side, maybe you can do another movie with those!
I would recommend ScanCafe.com for your project, they did a good job and are very reasonably priced. In fact, talk to me because I have another scan kit and am going to send in some more, maybe we could do it together.

Thanks, Laura. we’d love to see the scans you got. Also, I’ll definitely look at scancafe.

That’s great! What a super idea!
Credit goes to Aunt Maggie for all the meticulous scanning of the pics, I got them from her…and they have labels on them in iphoto I believe.
I don’t recognize all the people in the pics and neither does Auntie J, so there may be some family friends and neighbors mixed in there.
p.s. I don’t remember the water bottle conversation at all!

Thanks. The more I think about it, the more I think something like Flickr will do most of what I need.

The scanner of all these photos is moi! Auntie Maggie!

The music is perfect for these old black and whites! Great job, Mike!

Thanks, Maggie. And thanks for doing all the scanning. I know from personal experience how tedious and time consuming that can be!
